Contact Oregon’s Governor Kate Brown and ask her to VETO SB870 National Popular Vote
Phone: (503) 378-4582
(If you are from out of state and they ask you where you are from, tell them where you are from and that National Popular Vote is a national issue.)
Message: Please veto SB870 National Popular Vote which hurts smaller states like Oregon in presidential elections. Please don’t allow the National Popular Vote Compact to steal Oregon’s electors and force them to vote for a candidate that Oregon’s voters did not vote for. (or write your own message.)
Nevada’s Democrat Governor Steve Sisolak Veto Message for National Popular Vote. “Over the past several weeks, my office has heard from thousands of Nevadans across the state urging me to weigh the state’s role in our national elections. After thoughtful deliberation, I have decided to veto Assembly Bill 186. Once effective, the National Popular Vote Interstate Compact could diminish the role of smaller states like Nevada in national electoral contests and force Nevada’s electors to side with whoever wins the nationwide popular vote, rather than the candidate Nevadans choose. I recognize that many of my fellow Nevadans may disagree on this point and I appreciate the legislature’s thoughtful consideration of this important issue. As Nevada’s governor, I am obligated to make such decisions according to my own conscience. In cases like this, where Nevada’s interests could diverge from the interests of large states, I will always stand up for Nevada.”
The following States plus the District of Columbia have already signed onto the National Popular Vote State Compact circumventing the Constitutional Amendment process and making the Electoral College Meaningless! Notice that every one of these states voted for Hillary Clinton in the most recent election. The states are listed with their number of electoral votes: California 55, Connecticut 7, District of Columbia 3, Hawaii 4, Illinois 20, Maryland 10, Massachusetts 11, New Jersey 14, New York 29, Rhode Island 4, Vermont 3, Washington 12, Colorado 9, New Mexico 5 and Delaware 3 equaling 189 electoral votes. This means that according to NPV Compact they are more than 70% of the way to their goal or just 81 electoral votes short of putting the Compact into effect! If only a portion of the additional states not listed above voting for Hillary passed the NPV Compact, it would go into effect. This is a dangerous threat to our Republic.
