Speaker on Communism – Charmaine Vance – SCEF July 30: We are hearing on the news the frightening statistics that 62% of young people ages 18-29 have a favorable view of socialism and are willing to vote for someone who is running for office who claims to be a socialist. The majority of our young people in the USA define socialism as “social equity -” in other words, they have no idea what it really means. And 34% of the same age group have a favorable view of communism, though they really can’t define it either. They think it has something to do with “equity,” as well, and everyone “happily sharing and sharing alike.”
According to the World Book Encyclopedia, year 1985, p. 420, “Communism and Socialism are systems of social organization under which the means of production and distribution of goods are transferred from private hands to the government.” In other words, no private ownership of property is allowed either for production or distribution of goods. The state owns everything and is supposed to share it with all – but that never takes place. Remember the famous words of British historian and writer Lord Acton, “Power corrupts and absolute power corrupts absolutely.” The more the state has power, the wealthier it becomes and the more corrupted it becomes, and the people become poor and hungry. And just as in the movie and the books of Hunger Games, the state purposely keeps the people hungry – they can have more control over them that way.
The only difference between socialism and communism is the speed at which the systems take place. Socialism wants to do it slowly by elections and legislation; communism wants to do it quickly by war and by force.
That is why we thought it would be important to have a meeting with an expert who has seen communism close up and personal – in Cuba. Her name is Charmaine Vance. Please see the attached flyer that tells about her and her experiences living just outside of Cuba. She will also show us some video footage that gives a better idea of what life is like there. A friend who still travels there told her that Cuba is much worse today than when Charmaine was there – back in 1966-68.

Announcing our Sept. 12 Constitution Day Celebration at the Berger Center in Oakmont, Santa Rosa. (See the attached flyer) We are co-sponsoring it with the Oakmont Conservative Club. We have a wonderful line-up of speakers and beautiful music and a flag ceremony involving lots of veterans. We also have a lovely luncheon and a birthday cake and cupcakes for the 239th birthday of the Constitution. At the end, there will be an opportunity drawing to win cash, or there will be a live auction of some beautiful paintings. All the money raised goes for youth scholarships.
