Kathy Wilmot
As a 6th generation Nebraskan, Kathy and her husband, Wes Wilmot, reside near her childhood home of Beaver City. They have been blessed with three children and 10 grandchildren.
Kathy taught in Nebraska Public Schools after earning a BA in Elementary Education. Further study in Special Education fields led to employment with Bethphage Mission as a Qualified Mental Retardation Professional and Area Director for Mid-Nebraska Mental Retardation Services. Kathy retired from the Kansas Department of Corrections after serving 22 years as a Training Officer, Accreditation Manager, and EEOC officer and investigator in a medium/minimum security male prison.
Concern for our children and the lack of emphasis on academic education led to her entering the political arena she was to Nebraska State Board of Education (2 terms). Most recently Kathy was elected to represent the western 45 counties of Nebraska as a member of the Board of Regents, the governance board of the Nebraska University. Kathy also serves on the Judicial Nominating Commission -11th District, originally appointed by then-Gov. Pete Ricketts.
Kathy also serves as President of Nebraska Eagle Forum and an At-Large Member of the Eagle Forum’s National Board.
