Eagle Forum Supports Karoline Leavitt

Today, Karoline Leavitt announced that she will step down from her role as White House Press Secretary following the birth of her second child in May.

“Being a mother and welcoming a new baby while working in one of the most demanding jobs in the world has been the most rewarding yet challenging season of my life, to say the least,” Leavitt said in an X post. “The truth is since returning to the White House after the birth of my daughter, I have felt in my heart that I cannot be the best mom my two young children deserve while devoting the constant time, energy, and attention required of the White House Press Secretary — and that is why I have ultimately made the bittersweet decision to depart the White House and embark on a new chapter in my life.”

President Trump said in a Truth Social post that her decision “is one I totally understand and respect!”  Eagle Forum joins the President in support of Leavitt’s decision.

“As our founder, Phyllis Schlafly, said, ‘The Positive Woman in America today has a near-infinite opportunity to control her own destiny, to reach new heights of achievement, and to motivate and influence others.’ Karoline Leavitt has made a choice to prioritize her young family at this time.  We support her decision and thank her for her service to the nation over the last two years,” said Eagle Forum President Kris Ullman.

“Feminists for decades have labeled the role of wife and mother as institutional serfdom from which women must be freed if they are to find their own identity and self-fulfillment. We know this is not true. Women can and should be supported in their decision to put their young children first. The truth is that babies are only babies for a short period of time. While someone else can fill the role of Press Secretary, no one else can fill the role of their mother. Karoline has made an important decision, and we know that she still has much to offer the nation in her new advisory role.”

“In America, women have choices, and choices have consequences. Like men, women must weigh what is best for their families. Karoline has decided to focus on her young children at this time. I, too, made the decision to ‘lean back’ while my children were young. I remained involved in policy and politics while I was a full-time mother and was able to return to the workforce when they were older. It was the most fulfilling decision of my life. I support and applaud Karoline and wish the growing Leavitt family all the best in the years to come,” Ullman concluded.
