Great news! The Michigan State Legislature has voted to defund Common Core. Now the bill is moving to the Governor’s desk for his signature. Please call and e-mail the Governor imploring him to sign the Department of Education budget that contains language to defund the implementation of the Common Core Standards.

We are hearing that many of the State Senators are headed to a policy conference sponsored by the Detroit Chamber of Commerce (supporters of the CCSI) on Mackinac Island. Jeb Bush is to give a keynote address. Unfortunately, he is on the wrong side of this issue – and seriously threatens the votes we have to pass this bill.

We have heard good reports about the efforts at the Capitol yesterday, and we know that the legislators are hearing you. However, we need to turn up the heat on a few key leaders urging them to find a way to stop Common Core in Kansas this legislative session.

Time is of the essence right now in Michigan. The Michigan State Legislature is very close to defunding the Common Core Standards, but we need your help!

We are hearing that the provision to defund Common Core will not be in the final budget but instead will be voted on as a stand-alone bill. Please call your representatives and simply ask them to defund Common Core.
