National Commission Wants Girls and Moms Drafted Under Selective Service

Among the chaos of Coronavirus, the National Commission on Military, National, and Public Service released its long-awaited Final Report. As you may recall, the Commission was created in 2016 under the Obama Presidency to study the Selective Service, like the debated “Draft America’s Daughters” legislation. This would make it compulsory for women to register for the Selective Service alongside men.

Military DraftIn light of this, The National Commission’s Report suggested that women between the ages of 18 and 26 register for the draft, an age range of women in their child-bearing years. The Report says:

“Roughly doubling the pool from which the Nation might obtain conscripts would improve military readiness by raising the quality of those who might serve, as some women would be more qualified to serve than some men.”

Using the military to ensure “quotas” are met between men and women puts the whole country at stake and ignores the inherent differences between men and women; a fact already ignored by the 2015 decision allowing women to serve in combat roles. Our military should be the best fighting force possible. It should not be a “fair” or “equitable” job opportunity.

“Phyllis Schlafly always thought that the proponents who desire to draft women are inherently anti-military. They are willing to risk the strength of our military to fulfill “equality” of the sexes,” said Eagle Forum Chairman Anne Schlafly Cori. “We have seen now how easy it is in a panic to get people to go along with government orders. While President Trump has long been a supporter of a stronger military and would most likely not support women in the draft, the left is good at manufacturing panics that would result in women being drafted under another administration.”

It would be wise for the Trump Administration to ignore the Report’s findings.
