“Fight to Reclaim Culture That Schools Tried to Erase” was a headline in the New York Times in July 2021. Yes, we must fight to reclaim the culture that government schools are trying to erase. Let’s not wait for someone else to do the job for us.
More than 90 percent of schoolchildren attend government schools, which are paid by taxpayer money. We have skin in this game, but attending government schools does not have to be all-in. We pay for it, so we can pick and choose. Advise your children to approach school as you eat at a buffet: enjoy the meat but avoid the junk carbs.
Part-time government schooling is legal and available and should be more widely used. Opt-into the classes with substance (math and science). Opt-out of the junk classes (social studies, language arts, and health).
The parents and students DO have the power to choose the classes. Students have the right to opt-OUT of any individual class. I suggest replacing the offending classes with the new history curriculum offered by Hillsdale College.
School is about to begin. Here is a link to a sample OPT-OUT form.
After you fill out the form, let everyone know, and be sure to email your opt-out form to all of these people at your government school:
- teachers
- administrators
- superintendent
- school board members
The email should show everyone’s address so that ALL of the school personnel are aware that everyone received the same email.
Don’t wait another generation to reclaim our schools from government indoctrination. Our schools, our choice.
