House Formally Sends Articles of Impeachment to Senate

CapitolWhile Congress adjourned for Christmas and New Year’s, talk of impeachment took a step out of the spotlight. Hardly any talking head mentioned the delay in sending the articles to the Senate once they passed through the House. And, Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) received hardly any flack for not doing so before Christmas recess, with supporters claiming she was merely ensuring the Senate would handle the hearing to the Democrats’ liking. Not surprisingly, liberals used the delay as another means to attack Trump’s character, proving yet again impeachment isn’t about substance, but about their hatred towards the President.

“What do you think is going to happen if these sit there for a month or two months? Trump will go crazy,” said Rep. Earl Blumenauer. “That six-page letter, I mean he’s coming unhinged. He cannot contain himself.”

Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell was quick to call the delay an indication that Democrats have gotten “cold feet” in the “most rushed, least thorough and most unfair” impeachment proceeding. Trump’s reception at the College Football National Championship Game should make them nervous!

However, it seems Pelosi made up her mind and decided to finally proceed on sending the articles to the Senate. On Wednesday, January 15th, the House voted on H. Res. 798 to appoint impeachment managers. The managers are Intelligence Committee Chairman Adam Schiff (D-CA), Judiciary Committee Chairman Jerry Nadler (D-NY), Rep. Hakeem Jeffries (D-NY), Rep. Val Demings (D-FL), Rep. Zoe Lofgren (D-CA), Rep. Jason Crow (D-CO), and Rep. Sylvia Garcia (D-TX). According to Congressional rules, managers “are similar to prosecutors [and] are tasked with presenting the case for impeachment to the Senate.”

As the Senate begins impeachment proceedings, we should be able to trust the Republican controlled Senate to give President Trump a fair and non-biased trial for the good of the Republic. Eagle Forum will continue to monitor impeachment and alert you to any new developments.
