The House and Senate have been working on three major issues to send to President Trump’s desk by the end of this year: healthcare, the budget, and tax reform. Conservatives should be encouraging their legislators to work swiftly, but wisely on these major bills.

After the new healthcare plan passes, Congress will be working on a budget. The Omnibus from May was very much a disappointment. Now that we have a Republican Administration, Congress should be raising the bar higher. We will be looking for a defunding of Planned Parenthood, a reallocation of money from comprehensive sex education to sexual risk avoidance programs, and funding for the border wall among others. This vote is projected to take place in September.
Coinciding with the budget fight will be the issue of tax reform. Congress plans to tackle that after Labor Day. President Trump is intent on fulfilling his campaign promise of cutting taxes. House and Senate Leadership have committed to making that happen. The Trump Administration has stated that the text of this legislation is now in the works.
We are currently working with coalition members and meeting with members of Congress to ensure Conservative wins on all three of these issues. We will keep you updated as information comes our way.
