EPA
Ask Your Congressman to Support Consumer Choice for Vehicles
September 12, 2023

The Biden administration’s Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) is letting California run the show. Early this year, the EPA granted the State of California a waiver that allows half of all their new heavy-duty vehicle sales to be electric by 2035. Just a couple of months later, California asked for their biggest waiver yet. In twelve years, they want all new vehicles sold in their state to be electric. This outrageous policy goes beyond federal regulations.

Unfortunately, California’s extremism has been contagious. States such as Massachusetts, New York, Oregon, Rhode Island, Vermont, Virginia, and Washington have followed suit by passing similar laws. The results would be devastating to rural communities without public transportation and low-income families who cannot afford electric cars or high electric bills if successful.

This week, Congress is hitting the brakes.

The House of Representatives will vote on the Preserving Choice in Vehicle Purchases Act (H.R. 1435) to stop the EPA from granting waivers to states that want to ban vehicles with internal combustion engines thus allowing families to make their own choices in which cars to buy.

Eagle Forum joined the Save Our Cars Coalition to work alongside of like-minded organizations to preserve consumer choice and free market values when selecting a new vehicle. We ask that you contact your Representative to ask them to vote YES on H.R. 1435, the Preserving Choice in Vehicle Purchases Act.
