Earlier this week, we sent out a legislative action alert on two diversity bills that headed to the Floor for a vote. While these bills simply funneled funds to diversity programs or enforced statutes attempting to promote equality, House liberals are taking political correctness a step further in voting on H.Res. 908. This resolution condemns “all forms of anti-Asian sentiment as related to COVID–19.”
While hate crimes against a certain people group should be and currently are criminalized, H.Res.908 is overly dramatic, even going so far as to censor speech. The almost two-page list of condemned “anti-Asian sentiment” includes the banning of “anti-Asian terminology and rhetoric related to COVID-19, such as the ‘‘Chinese Virus’’, ‘‘Wuhan Virus’’, and ‘‘Kung-flu.’’ It goes on further to affirm the World Health Organization and Centers for Disease Control and Prevention decision to “recognize that naming COVID-19 by its geographic location or linking it to a specific ethnicity perpetuates stigma.”
Yet, House Democrats held a hearing on February 5, 2020, in the Committee on Foreign Affairs entitled, “The Wuhan Coronavirus: Assessing the Outbreak, the Response, and Regional Implications.”
Like Speaker Pelosi’s hair salon scandal, it appears the Dems are immune to their own rules. Make no mistake, this resolution is an attack on our President and his Administration’s actions in combatting the Coronavirus. Please join us in asking your Representative to vote NO on H.Res. 908 and GET BACK TO WORK!
