The whole nation watched as State Senator Wendy Davis filibustered the Texas State Senate for 12 hours as she stalled common-sense, life-saving measures for women and the unborn. Although Senator Davis would like you to think she is standing up for women and their right to control their bodies, what she was really doing was protecting the horrific practices of doctors like Kermit Gosnell – which we are finding to be the status quo not the exception – even in Texas.
Those who stand for life in Texas have an unprecedented opportunity to protect women and unborn babies in an effective and practical way. We are so grateful to our leadership for their consistent defense of the most vulnerable in our society (Please see the letter from Gov. Perry below).
In a second special session, the Texas House has taken the lead in passing this pro-life omnibus as HB 2 (the same as SB 5 that was killed in the first special session) has been voted out of committee and is expected for a vote early next week. The Senate hearing on the identical companion bill, SB 1, is Monday, at 10 a.m. Registration begins at 9 a.m. Please pray for our Texas state leaders as they seek to pass and enforce sound and prudent protection mechanisms for women and unborn babies.
WE NEED YOU to join us in Austin on Monday. See details below.

Dear fellow defender of life:
Yesterday was a moving sight to behold, the halls of the Capitol were a sea of blue in support of life. And after hours of testimony, we took a major step forward in our effort to protect the lives of our fellow Texans, as House Bill 2 was voted favorably out of committee. It was an energizing and personally moving day for us all. It was also a reminder that a lot of work remains to be done, but we are showing the state and our nation that we are up for the task.
Sadly, even in Texas, abortions are legal well into the time where babies not only feel pain but many of them are viable.
This special session, we will ban abortion after five months. We will protect women by ensuring abortion facilities meet the same standards as other surgical facilities. And we need your continued help to make it happen.
I am so proud to stand with you on the side of life and I thank you for all you are doing across our state and here in our State Capitol to give a voice to those who don’t have one.
I encourage you to continue sharing your stories of life and hope with friends, family and lawmakers. Let’s keep the momentum going on social media outlets like Facebook and Twitter, using the #Stand4Life hashtag. And text the word “LIFE” to 21824 to stay informed about opportunities to get involved.
Sincerely,
Rick Perry
