Eagle Forum Joins Geneva Consensus Coalition

Eagle Forum has joined the Civil Society for the Geneva Consensus Declaration, an international coalition of civil society organizations supporting the principles of the Geneva Consensus Declaration on Women’s Health and Strengthening the Family.

The Geneva Consensus Declaration on Women’s Health and Strengthening the Family was launched in 2020 by the United States alongside Brazil, Egypt, Hungary, Indonesia, and Uganda. The Declaration now has 43 signatories and calls for respect for national sovereignty in matters of women’s health and social policy. It also affirms the importance of the family and states that abortion is not an international right.

“Extreme ideologies that have conflated the concepts of male with female and disregard the dignity of unborn life have devastating consequences for women, children, and the formation of thriving families across the globe,” said Eagle Forum President Kris Ullman.

The Declaration recognizes the family’s foundational place in society, stating that “the family is the natural and fundamental group unit of society and is entitled to protection by society and the State.”

“Every member of the family- mothers, fathers, and children — deserves the opportunity to live a healthy and sustainable life, protected from the harms of abortion and supported by strong families and communities,” Ullman continued.

The newly formed Civil Society for the GCD Coalition seeks to raise awareness of the Declaration among civil society organizations and United Nations member states while supporting signatory governments in advancing its principles through their national policies and work within the United Nations system.

Eagle Forum looks forward to working alongside fellow coalition members to uphold the dignity of women, protect unborn life, and strengthen the family on the international stage.
