One Thing President Trump Can Do Now to Make Schools Safer

The School Safety Commission ordered by President Trump that will discuss and recommend ways to keep schools safer after the tragic Parkland, Fla., school shooting in February is set to hold its first series of roundtable discussions this Wednesday, April 4th. This commission, chaired by Education Secretary Betsy DeVos, also includes Attorney General Jeff Sessions, Secretary of Health and Human Services Alex Azar, and Secretary of Homeland Security Kirstjen Nielsen. The commission held an organizational meeting last week.

Voice Your Opinion About the Awful Omnibus! How Did Your Representative and Senators Vote?

On March 22 Congress voted to pass an Omnibus spending package that was anything but Conservative. The over 2,200-page document was released 36 hours before it was taken to a vote. No one, including your Congressmen and Senators, had time to read the entire bill. The House voted in favor 256-167 and the Senate voted in favor 65-32. Because of the rushed job, Congress continued to fund the leftist agenda by giving money to programs like Planned Parenthood, Head Start, and the National Endowment for the Arts. They stripped most of the funding for a border wall leaving a measly $1.6 billion and increased the amount of low-skilled immigrant workers to enter our borders. This greatly increases the change of visa overstays.

Weapon of Mass Instruction or Destruction?

In 2014, President Obama called on school superintendents across the nation to sign the “Future Ready” technology pledge, which stated that the superintendents would do everything they could to bring more technology into their classrooms and promote digital learning. Over 3,100 (out of 14,000) signed that pledge and have been pushing to get a 1:1 student-to-device ratio in their districts.

Budget — Month to Month

As another shutdown looms, Congress plans to punt the budget, once again.  The House passed a Continuing Resolution on Tuesday that expires March 23rd. A few long-term initiatives were attached to the CR including Medicare reform, community health center funding, and a full year authorization of Department of Defense funding.
