Two hundred and fifty years ago, fifty-six men from thirteen colonies affixed their names to a document whose impact would far exceed anything they could have imagined. The Declaration of Independence ignited a revolution that gave birth to the freest nation the world has ever known — a nation founded on the belief that every individual possesses inherent worth, has a voice in self-government, and has the opportunity to pursue a life of purpose and prosperity.

Free-market capitalism has empowered generations of Americans to contribute to and benefit from our nation’s prosperity, fostering a spirit of generosity that continues to make the American people among the most charitable in the world.
A thriving nation is built upon the strength of its families. Every child deserves the chance to flourish; parents should be free to guide and raise their children according to their values, and families must have the opportunity to pursue happiness through economic freedom, safe communities, and national security. Those who seek to undermine our nation understand that strong families are the foundation of a free society and a powerful defense against the forces of communism, socialism, and Marxism.
America’s 250th anniversary is more than a celebration; it is a call to preserve and pass on the liberties we have so richly enjoyed to future generations. We must never forget the courage of our Founders, who risked everything to declare independence from British rule, nor the countless American men and women who have shed their blood in defense of this great nation. As John Adams wisely declared:
Liberty must at all hazards be supported. We have a right to it, derived from our Maker. But if we had not, our fathers have earned and bought it for us, at the expense of their ease, their estates, their pleasure, and their blood.
