Students are back in school. Workers are back at work. People are traveling and entertaining. Strangers are hugging and sharing bowls of guacamole.
Everyone is ignoring the large spike in Covid infections. Has life finally returned to normal? No one seems scared anymore. Even the Chicago public school union was forced back to work by the Democrat mayor.
Finally, people are rational about this illness. People realize that masks are irrelevant to the spread of Covid and that vaccines neither prevent infection nor spread. Americans have finally had it with Covid and are living their lives. They are ignoring the fear-mongering from media and government officials.
In my community, there is a mandate to wear masks in public, but the order is not even enforced in the Council chambers! The people are openly defying their leaders.
America wasted the last two years in needless worry and anxiety. But there are silver linings:
- The failure of public schools to educate is now painfully obvious to parents and taxpayers.
- “Follow the science” is a shorthand for government to control people (watch that phrase on attempts to control your energy usage).
- Any state that continues to restrict its people will continue to lose population to the free states, such as Texas and Florida.
Covid is over. Time for leadership that respects the will of the people.
