Sen. Susan Collins (R-ME) plans to introduce legislation that will grant amnesty to 1.8 million illegal immigrants. This is a deal being worked out between both parties, but panders to liberals by offering no long-term solutions to America’s immigration problems.
The President has required that any legislation that comes to his desk have his “four pillars”: a DACA fix, increased border security, an end to chain migration, and elimination of the Diversity Visa Lottery. Sen. Collins’s proposal will only allow a DACA fix and increased border security. Without addressing chain migration and the Visa Lottery, the numbers of illegal immigrants will continue to rise. This will perpetuate this same fight for years to come.
