Last July, the pro-life, pro-family movement celebrated the defunding of Big Abortion in the One Big Beautiful Bill (also known as the Working Families Tax Cut) – even though it was only for one year. Sadly, this July 4th, the spigot was turned back on, allowing Planned Parenthood once again to receive your taxpayer money via the Medicaid program. Planned Parenthood rakes in up to $450 million/year from this one program alone. Eliminating that funding put a big dent in their budget, potentially saving thousands of unborn lives.
Despite repeated calls by pro-life groups to ask Congress to extend the ban, they have not and instead allowed Planned Parenthood to get your money. Today, a new budget resolution was introduced to begin another reconciliation process – the vehicle that was used to pass the OBBB by a simple majority. However, there were NO instructions to prohibit funding abortion providers. This is unacceptable.
House Leadership is steering the ship but seems to have faltered on this issue. Speaker Mike Johnson (R-LA) has the President’s ear. He is also personally pro-life. If he and his leadership team hear that this is a top priority from the American people, it could give them the motivation they need.
