Call Your Congressman: NO on Fast-Track!

June 9, 2015

Stop FastTrackPresident Obama and Republican leaders continue to twist arms in the House of Representatives in an effort to pass trade promotion authority (TPA), or fast-track. American Action Forum, a group close to House Speaker John Boehner, will spend $900,000 to pressure GOP congressmen into voting for fast-track. A vote on the measure could take place by the end of this week.

As supporters pull out all the stops to secure fast-track, the reasons to oppose it multiply. A recent poll by CBS and the New York Times found solid majorities of Americans opposed to fast-track as well as the trade agreement for which it paves the way, the Trans-Pacific Partnership (TPP). Several Republican presidential candidates have also spoken out against fast-track. And a recent World Trade Organization decision on country-of-origin labeling for meat reminds us that massive international trade agreements like the TPP diminish American sovereignty.

President Obama, the Republican establishment, and big business are desperate to win on this issue. Congress needs to be reminded that fast-track is not in the national interest, and the grassroots know it. Call your representative today and tell him or her to oppose granting fast-track authority to President Obama.
