ACTION: What Does Pete Sessions Really Think?

December 5, 2014

On his official website, Rep. Pete Sessions offers his constituents strong words against amnesty:

I strongly oppose illegal immigration and blanket amnesty or any other reward to those who have intentionally broken our nation’s immigration laws.  Our laws should not encourage continued lawbreaking and greater illegal immigration.  Additionally, those who have worked to come here legally from other countries should not be put at a disadvantage in comparison to those who have come to the United States illegally. http://sessions.house.gov/index.cfm/immigration

Behind the closed doors of the powerful Rules Committee which he chairs, Pete Sessions sounds quite different:

“I’m going to use my assets and resources in the new year to work with this Congress… to have a well-understood agreement about what the law should be, and how we as communities, and farm communities, and tech communities, create circumstances where we can have people be in this country and work, and where not one person is quote ‘thrown out’ or ‘deported,'” Rep. Pete Sessions, the chairman of the powerful House rules committee, told a group of Democratic legislators. Click here to watch Sessions’ exchange with liberal Chicago Representative Luis Gutierrez.

As President Obama assaults our immigration laws, Americans deserve to know where their elected officials stand on amnesty. Pete Sessions is in a strong position to fight Obama’s amnesty. Will he stand by the promise he made to his constituents, or join his Democratic colleagues?

Call Rep. Sessions’s D.C. office and demand to know where he really stands on amnesty.

Message to Rep. Pete Sessions:

Please stop the President and oppose amnesty

We are writing to express our sincere opposition to your comments about amnesty during the December 3rd Rules Committee hearing.

Your website says that you oppose giving rewards to those who have broken our immigration laws but that is not what you said in the hearing. Please clarify your position on amnesty and fight to stop President Obama’s illegal act.

Congress has the power to stop Obama’s executive amnesty by refusing to fund it. Funding it in the short term means that you are complicit with the President’s lawlessness.

Please stop the President and oppose amnesty.
