The 118th Congress began on Tuesday with a mix of new and seasoned Representatives. As is tradition, all House members were joined by their families in the Chamber to celebrate their first day on the job. Sadly for the families, they left without seeing the Representatives sworn in. The day’s agenda was halted by the lack of consensus on who should be elected Speaker of the House.

In Tyler O’Neil’s recent expose’, he describes the never-ending quest to utilize public schools for gender identity indoctrination. The source of this new propaganda? CDC guidelines that encourage teachers and school administrators to become tools of the radical LGBTQ movement.

The House and Senate finally wrapped up their final business last week just in time for Christmas and to allow us a short rest before the new year and new Congress. Now is a great time to make an end-of-the-year donation to Eagle Forum that will allow us to continue the important work we do not only in Washington, D.C. but throughout the nation.

In the final days of the Lame Duck session, Democrats and some Republicans have come to an agreement on a year-long omnibus spending bill for the remainder of FY2023. While those Republicans are touting their “wins,” they are buried underneath the nearly $1.7 trillion price tag and the typical leftist policies that will be continued next year.

All parents have heard stories of enthusiastic college freshmen going off to school with their family’s values firmly in tow, only to see marked changes in the students when they come home for their first extended holiday at Christmas. Most people consider it a phase, and often it is. The scenario has changed now, though, with the influence of increasingly woke universities.

The documentary, One Day in America, released on the 21st anniversary of the 9/11 Islamist attack on America misses a crucial fact. The men who had hijacked the four airplanes were Islamists who died in the cause of Allah. In Islam, the 19 hijackers are known as “martyrs.”

The Biden Administration’s border policy is completely broken, and it appears it has no interest in restoring any type of common-sense law and order. This is nothing short of a dereliction of duty.

Not so long ago, public libraries were actually there for the public, not for a small group of extremists intent on indoctrinating innocent children with the adults’ political agendas. Those days are gone, which conservative Christian author Kirk Cameron has discovered firsthand.

As the 117th Congress winds to a close, conservatives urge Republicans in Congress to oppose last minute lawmaking attempts in the lame duck session. Any new policy – including year-long spending deals and the passage of marquee bills like the National Defense Authorization Act – should wait until the new Congress is sworn in.

If a huge border crisis wasn’t bad enough, liberal lawmakers are pushing lame duck legislation to loosen our immigration laws. Behind closed doors, members of the United States House and Senate are negotiating bills to eliminate limits on legal immigration and provide a massive amnesty measure in the final days of the 117th Congress.

The Congressional lame duck session has run amok. Nothing highlighted the lawlessness of this period more than the politics surrounding the Respect for Marriage Act (H.R. 8404). After forty-seven House Republicans helped advance the bill with no religious exemptions before the November elections, the Senate took it up this week.

As we look forward to our Thanksgiving dinners this week, some of us may be thankful if one topic doesn’t come up: politics. If it does, there is a feast of issues that could be discussed but one is on the front burner in Congress. The Respect for Marriage Act “RMFA” (HR. 8404) will be served as the main course in the Senate next week.

The United States House and Senate kicked off the ‘lame duck’ session this week – that time between the election and the swearing-in of the new Congress. Historically, because outgoing Members are no longer accountable to their constituents and elections are as far off as possible, this is a time rife with mischief-making!

With the midterms in our rearview mirrors (almost), many people are still reeling from the failure of elections that they thought might help save America as we remember it. Perhaps now is the time to fully admit: Politicians and the political process are not our protectors. Normal American citizens are.
