Is Math Racist?

Critical Race Theory is the civil rights issue of our time. It eats away at our public, private, and Christian academies with its cancerous messages about white privilege, minority disadvantage, and perennial racism.

Save America by Saving U.S. History

The history we teach our children cannot solve all of our problems, nor should we expect it to. But it can provide a factual foundation for discussing current challenges and seeking solutions, while educating a new generation about America’s remarkable heritage and what brings us together as one people. Unfortunately, all too often, that is not the type of history we are providing our students.

Going Back to Where We Started From

I generally assume positive intent, but that approach is being pushed to its limits by the advancement of the New York Times’ 1619 Project in schools. I cannot understand the goal of a growing number of school districts — those charged with administering curricula to thousands of schools — agreeing to use the 1619 Project as part of their history lessons.

Algorithms Replace Teaching

Over the last several years, testing has been a major point of contention between parents and the education establishment (both federal and state). How to Solve the Opioid Crisis

On February 2, 2017 I discovered the lifeless body of our 24-year old son, Thomas, sitting in a chair in our basement. He was the latest victim of the Opioid Crisis. An estimated 64,000 died of drug overdoses in the USA in 2016, and the majority were due to opioid pain medicines.

Mapping Your Education Tax Dollar

I am hopeful and optimistic about our future. Why? Because our Founders knew that knowledge is power. Our Founders understood the power of transparency, and they wrote it into the U.S. Constitution. Article I, Section 9 states “. . . a Regular Statement and Account of Receipts and Expenditures of all public Money shall be published from time to time.”

Academic Freedom in K-12 Science Education

K-12 science standards in all states contain performance expectations on biological evolution (macroevolution, or descent from a common ancestry). All state standards (including the Next Generation Science Standards) present unguided evolution as the only explanation for the development of life starting from single-cell ancestors.
