Eagle Forum Rallies Around Title IX’s Protection of Biological Women

The 50th anniversary of Title IX is a perfect time to rally to protect women’s sports teams as a place for biological females to compete against one another and to participate on women’s athletic teams. Opportunities for girls and women to play sports have expanded because of Title IX, and Eagle Forum celebrates the athletic advances that have benefited all women – from the professional athletes to those who just want to play for fun and exercise.

Sadly, over the last several years, we have seen a push to force a radical gender ideology into women’s locker rooms and onto our daughters’ playing fields that seeks to erase the very concept of “female.” This movement hurts women who want to compete safely and harms the ability of girls to excel on a level playing field.

Title IX was originally drafted as a civil rights statute to protect women from sex discrimination in educational programs and activities. Female athletes have been afforded their own division of sports because of their unique physical differences. Males generally have more muscle mass, are taller, have larger skeletal muscles, larger hearts, lungs, and a greater number of red blood cells. Without a doubt, these differences influence sports performances so forcing them to compete against each other in physical activities can be dangerous and injurious to women.

“The radical ‘sex-deniers’ claim there are no biological differences between males and females. Their drastic view that genders are interchangeable goes against everything science and common sense tells us. As a mother of daughters, I cannot stand idly by while biological males who claim to be women intrude upon their rights to women-only activities,” says Eagle Forum President Kris Ullman. “Eagle Forum will continue to fight against dangerous gender ideology in order for women and girls across the nation to be able to compete safely and fairly in athletics.”

Eagle Forum calls on all elected and educational leaders at the local, state, and federal level as well as all parents to stand up for our nation’s young women and protect women’s sports for biological female athletes.
