Phyllis Schlafly Statement:
House Actions on Women in Draft
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: May 17, 2016
Saint Louis, MO: Today, Phyllis Schlafly congratulated the House Rules Committee for acting properly in stripping a provision from the annual defense policy bill that would have required young women to sign up for a military draft.
“We’ve been fighting against women in the draft for over 40 years. Feminists have always wanted women in the draft and in combat,” said Phyllis Schlafly, founder of Eagle Forum. “Forcing our nation’s young women into the draft and combat roles would be a horrible mistake and would harm both our military and our nation.”
