Alton, Illinois – Kris Ullman, President of Eagle Forum is delighted to announce that Andrea Houk of Virginia has been unanimously approved by the Board of Directors to serve as the new president of Virginia Eagle Forum. “Andrea has graciously agreed to take on the role of president and we believe that she is a wonderful addition to our state leadership roster. Her enthusiasm, education, and experience will serve Eagle Forum of Virginia and its citizens well. We are grateful to have Andrea lead Virginia Eagle Forum,” Mrs. Ullman said.
Married for 32 years, and a military spouse for almost twenty, Andrea took advantage of the moves to work in different industries such as biotech and high-tech startup companies in California. She also held positions in home care, church administration, accounting, and sales. These roles introduced her to people with diverse backgrounds and education levels. While stationed in Iowa, Andrea realized that her political views were firmly rooted in conservatism, and she switched her voter registration from Independent to Republican. Since, she has served in various volunteer capacities, learning that duty stations in Republican-run states meant lower costs and higher-paying jobs. The move to Virginia prompted her to become more involved with local politics through various volunteer positions with the local Fairfax County GOP.
In 2017, Andrea started attending Liberty University Online and completed her degree in history. Andrea had long known she did not identify with the feminist movement; however, she had not heard of Phyllis Schlafly until taking a class on the Reagan Era. After researching Mrs. Schlafly, Andrea discovered Eagle Forum, and its ongoing mission resonated deeply with her, prompting her to get involved.
Eagle Forum of Virginia had been led for twenty-five years by longtime and beloved Eagle member and leader, the late Helen Blackwell. Andrea looks forward to continuing Helen’s effective legacy through Virginia Eagle Forum, and she invites conservative Virginians to join her!
