Amy Coney Barrett

“Justice Barrett gave us a role model to show women that they no longer need to choose between taking their faith seriously and being taken seriously.” – Colleen Holcomb, Eagle Forum President

Eagle Forum joins millions of Americans in rejoicing over judge and former law professor Amy Coney Barrett’s confirmation to the Supreme Court.

“As Senator Ted Cruz noted during her confirmation hearing, Barrett has lived a ‘remarkable life.’  Columnists on both sides of the political spectrum have noted that Barrett is the embodiment of a ‘Phyllis Schlafly-style’ womanhood, having reached the pinnacle of success in her chosen vocation, while embracing motherhood and marriage, instead of viewing such institutions as barriers to success,” said Eagle Forum President Colleen Holcomb.

“As an organization comprised predominantly of pro-life women of faith, we celebrate the historic significance of Judge Amy Coney Barrett’s nomination to the Supreme Court.  As Judiciary Chairman Lindsey Graham noted, ‘This is the first time in American history that we’ve nominated a woman who is unashamedly pro-life and embraces her faith without apology, and she is going to the court.’”

“Through her nomination and confirmation process, now-Justice Barrett gave us a role model to  show women that they no longer need to choose between taking their faith seriously and being taken seriously.”

“Despite the Democrats’ shameful partisan grandstanding, the Senate confirmation hearings revealed that now-Justice Barrett has the grace, intellect, expertise, and the judicial temperament necessary to serve the American people well on the Supreme Court.” Said Holcomb.

“Even more importantly, Barrett’s testimony and the testimony of her character witnesses showed that she has the utmost reverence and respect for our Constitution and a compassion for people from all walks of life that should reassure every American that she will be a powerful force for justice on the nation’s highest court.”

On behalf of Eagle Forum and the thousands of families we represent throughout the nation, I thank the conservatives on the Judiciary Committee for overcoming powerful opposition to ensure Justice Barrett’s confirmation

“We especially thank those Senators on the Judiciary Committee facing difficult re-election battles like Chairman Lindsey Graham, Thom Tillis of North Carolina and Jody Ernst of Iowa.  We know it must have been tempting to stay home and stump for votes, rather than faithfully doing your jobs.” Holcomb concluded, We hope your constituents will honor your faithfulness.”
