Ask your Senator to NOT cosponsor “woke” Bill

Critical race theory, or CRT, has overtaken the country’s education system. Last week The Federalist reported about the “cultural competence” plan a number one school district in Southlake, TX adopted in 2018. For example,

“During a 2019 retreat, Carroll administrators were given a preview of the kind of instruction they would be expected to oversee and carry out under a “cultural competency” regime.

In slides presented at that retreat, teachers, and administrators who choose to treat students, parents, and colleagues equally regardless of their skin color or ethnicity were accused of “cultural blindness”: “a state in which differences were ignored and one proceeds as if differences don’t exist.” The slides claimed, “White privilege is being able to navigate daily life in the American culture without having to think about race.”’

But further this programming — and make no mistake it’s not just in this school district — is indoctrinating students to believe that America is inherently flawed. According to The Federalist, Southlake’s “cultural competence” gave “educators’ [the] ultimate goal to encourage students to “work to be agents of change,” and along the way learn to “view problems and issues through different ethnic lenses.” It called on teachers to develop environments that push students to “become actively engaged in solving real-world problems centered around diversity, culture, power, equity, and social-justice.”’

If this was not bad enough, the Biden Administration recently announced a new rule at the Department of Education that establishes the priorities for grants in American History and Civics Education programs that encourages schools to adopt and praise CRT, like that the “1619 Project” and scholar Ibram X. Kendi.

And, sadly, in Congress, a bill has also been hijacked by this new rule. The Civics Secures Democracy Act or S. 879 is aimed at supporting non-political civics education. But Biden’s new rule will surely direct the funds to pay for CRT and the subsequent indoctrination of our youth.

For these reasons, please join us in asking Senator Cornyn (R-TX) to remove his name as co-sponsor of S. 879.
