Congress is voting this week to continue the United States’ participation in the burdensome and costly Paris Climate Agreement. Democrats’ Climate Action Now Act, H.R. 9, undermines the President’s campaign promise and decision to withdraw from the agreement on June 1, 2017. The Climate Action Now Act stops the President from completing the withdrawal by prohibiting federal funds contributing to these efforts. The bill also includes language forcing the President to create a plan for how the U.S. will meet the strenuous and unrealistic pollution reduction goals agreed to in the Paris Agreement by President Obama. As the President has stated in the past, the Paris Climate Agreement is estimated to cost the U.S. $3 trillion in reduced output, 6 million industrial jobs, and about 3 million manufacturing jobs. The Climate Action Now Act is yet another example of how Democrats in Congress continue to push their agenda on the American people no matter the cost to their livelihood.
