Congress will vote this week on a very dangerous bill. The For the People Act (H.R. 1) actually harms the American people. This 500-page bill contains overreaching federal government policies that will disenfranchise voters, suppress free speech, and make voter fraud more rampant. Yet, every Democrat in the House has co-sponsored this legislation.
H.R. 1 will allow the federal government to gain massive control over political speech. Organizations like Eagle Forum would be limited in what we could say or do because it could be labeled as “campaign speech”. You could be prosecuted as well for simply discouraging someone from voting.
Alternatively, it gives those who participate in illegal activity more of a voice. States will be made to restore voting rights to all felons. It will also impede state officials’ efforts on cracking down on voter fraud by limiting their ability to see who is registered in multiple states at the same time.
This bill also puts our financial integrity in jeopardy. Any of your donations to organizations or campaigns, no matter the amount, will be tracked by the federal government. It will also provide a voluntary 6-1 match with federal money for Presidential and Congressional candidates. This means that our taxpayer money could fund the candidate that we do not wish to hold that office.
