Stamina, Skill, and Grace on Display at Senate Hearing
The Senate is one step closer to confirming Judge Amy Coney Barrett. This past Thursday, the Senate Judiciary Committee finished the confirmation hearings and scheduled the vote to approve of the nomination on Thursday, October 22nd. From there, the nomination heads to the Senate Floor for a vote by the entire legislative body.
In the meantime, you probably saw and will see countless headlines about the Senate Judiciary Committee’s questioning of Judge Barrett. You may have heard legal terms like, “originalist,” “textualism,” and “severability” throughout the questioning and wonder what they mean when applied to the court. Or perhaps you heard the Senate Democrats messaging on how Judge Barrett’s confirmation leads to the abolishment of Obamacare.
It’s easy to be overwhelmed with the news! So, if you’re looking for more clarity of what happened in the hearings and how Judge Barrett responded, then you’ll want to listen to this week’s episode of Engage with Eagle Forum, “A Break Down of Amy Coney Barrett’s Hearings,” with guest and Eagle Forum President, Colleen Holcomb. Colleen attended Regent University Law school and received the National Association of Women Lawyers’ Outstanding Graduate Award.
Eagle Forum’s President Colleen Holcomb joins this week’s episode to give us a legal perspective of Amy Coney Barrett’s Supreme Court nomination hearings.
