Eagle Forum News from California

Eagle Forum News from California – by Orlean Koehle, State President:
Three Eagle Forum Chapters Hosted Pastor Donovan Larkins from Dayton, Ohio: He who spoke June 30 in Orange County, July 1 in Sonoma County, and July 2 at the Capitol in Sacramento. His topic was “Protecting and Restoring Innocence.” Having experienced how devastating sexual abuse is as a young boy growing up in a home with a homosexual, pedophile father, he vowed he would never allow that to happen to himself or anyone else again. He became a pastor and his main ministry is to help children and youth recover from sexual abuse and sex trafficking.
San Diego County Chapter Leader – Summer Boger: A few weeks ago, News and Notes announced our new Eagle Forum chapter in San Diego and a new leader, but due to some conflicts, that leader has resigned. Summer Boger, who lives in San Diego county, has been holding the calling as our state Executive Secretar, and was helping in the organization of the new chapter. She has been willing to step up and take the position of President of the San Diego Chapter. Many of you met her when she came to Eagle Council last year. We are very happy to have her take this position, and we are sure she will do an excellent job!
Californians Can Breathe a Sigh of Relief – no more mischief for a whole month. The year-round state legislative session will close for vacation from Friday, July 12, to August, July 12th. Some of the most egregious bills are still pending and will continue to be heard when they come back such as:
AB 175: Gender Foster Care Bill – Foster parents must support their foster kids in whatever gender they think they are, including providing them with sex change operations and puberty blocking drugs.
SB 24: Chemical Abortion Bill – All colleges and universities will be mandated to offer in their health centers chemical abortion pills for their student to use. The bill states that this procedure is perfectly safe, but that is not the case. For those who saw the movie, “Unplanned,” you know how the star of the movie, underwent a chemical abortion and bled for 6 weeks afterwards.
AB 493: Teachers Must Affirm LGTBQ Students: All junior high and high school public school teachers must have special “sensitivity training” to make sure that they “support and affirm” all LGTBQ students in their classrooms. This is a violation of the first amendment rights of Christian teachers who do not share this concept because of their Biblical beliefs. These teachers will be bullied into going along with something they do not believe in or they could lose their jobs.
Assembly Concurrent Resolution 99: This is a resurrection of a bill that was pulled at the last minute last year by its author, Assemblyman Evan Lowe. It condemns what Lowe calls “conversion therapy” or any attempt to change unwanted same-sex attraction or gender confusion as “unethical,” “harmful,” and leading to high LGBT suicide rates.
SB 360: Would Violate the Seal of Confession – Would require priests and clergy to violate confidential confessionals (if there is the possibility of child abuse). It was viewed as an attack on Freedom of Religion. Thanks mainly to the California Catholic Conference, over 100,000 letters of opposition were sent, and hundreds of people came on buses from across the state to speak out publicly against it. At first, the bill was flying through the senate and assembly committees, but because of this strong opposition, two days before the final vote, the bill was pulled by the author, Senator Jerry Hill (D) San Mateo.
If only we could get such united support by all Christian churches against the other bills, maybe such success would also be possible in stopping them.
