This year, the cheerleaders for big government are celebrating the 50th Anniversary of the launching of Lyndon Johnson’s War on Poverty. This should be an occasion for mourning, not celebration because that was the most expensive legislative failure in our history.

This week, the House Armed Services Committee (HASC) passed the National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA) out of committee, referring it favorably to the House floor. At this point, the bill does not include amnesty for illegal alien enlistees. However, during the mark-up, HASC Ranking Member Adam Smith offered the Denham ENLIST Act as an amendment, but withdrew it because the bill has a mandatory score and he did not have an offset. Meaning, any amendment that increases spending with out neutralizing the cost cannot be considered.

“Imperial Presidency” perfectly describes what the Obama Administration has become as it increasingly violates the limits on its power defined by the U.S. Constitution. Criticisms of how President Obama is overstepping his authority are now being heard from all sides of the political spectrum.

The Congressional Budget Office just reported that Obamacare will shrink the U.S. workforce by 2.5 million full-time jobs. That’s stunning confirmation of how Barack Obama’s favorite legislative legacy is (as even Democrats have admitted) a “train wreck.”

“Get right with the law” is the trendy new poll-tested slogan that’s supposed to make both amnesty-resistant Americans and illegal aliens accept whatever so-called immigration “reform” that Congress considers. Alas, playing with words will not sell amnesty to Americans or non-amnesty to illegals.

Those who seek to enter the United States illegally are resourceful in selecting their route. They climb over fences, scramble through underground tunnels, swim through waterways, and claw their way through the heat of the Arizona desert.

Most Americans believe that the United States of America is an exceptional country. The “borders test” proves that people are coming to America, not fleeing from America to exit to other countries. People come to America because it is a remarkable oasis of freedom, prosperity, and opportunity for foreigners no matter what socioeconomic rank they were assigned in their native country.

It used to be that a college degree was a ticket to a pretty good job. No more. College graduates are now called the “Lost” generation because more than half of recent graduates are jobless, or working only non-career part-time jobs, or working jobs that don’t require a college degree.

In the landmark marriage decision in June 2013, the Supreme Court didn’t make same-sex marriage a constitutional right as the liberal media had hoped. But the Court did give the homosexuals what many believe is their number-one goal: ugly language to silence their critics.

The Gang of Eight pro-amnesty Senators are trying to con the House of Representatives into passing parts of an anti-American amnesty bill so they can get a Chuck Schumer-dominated conference committee and bamboozle Representatives into going along with their sellout plans. The few pro-amnesty Republican Senators had Marco Rubio as the salesman for the unpopular amnesty bill, and the few pro-amnesty Republicans in the House have Paul Ryan to play the same un-Republican role.

The final Cloture vote, the motion to end discussion and move to final passage of the Gang of Eight’s loophole and political payoff-ridden amnesty bill is scheduled for June 27th. Cloture is important, because it requires a 60 vote threshold, so it’s the only vote conservatives can win in the Senate.

The Gang of Eight immigration bill, S.744, can be summed up as amnesty now, border closing never. The Department of Homeland Security is not required to build a fence (which was ordered by the Secure Fence Act signed by President George W. Bush). DHS is required only to submit a plan.

Your Senators will be voting at 5:30 (ET) today on a bill that in all likelihood they have not read! The Schumer-Corker-Hoeven amendment is nothing but a fig leaf that promises strong border security but is full of loopholes to ensure the border never gets secured. It does not fix any of the problems in the underlying Gang of Eight bill, in fact, it adds to the cost and only makes the bill worse.
