Dear Friend of Education Liberty and Student Privacy,
After your great work in the last session of Congress to stand against the privacy and freedom of conscience-violating Strengthening Education Through Research Act (SETRA), it is rearing its ugly head again. Here is a link to the letter I have had the privilege to work on with several others at the national level explaining the privacy problems raised by this bill after a U.S. House education subcommittee hearing held right before the 4th of July recess.
Privacy Letter to Congressman Brat
Our plan is to send this letter to subcommittee member Rep. David Brat so that he can insert it into the record.
We’re looking for leaders of national and state organizations to sign on to this letter (we’re not seeking individual signatures, because we would need thousands of them to impress anyone in Congress and we just don’t have the time to gather that many). If you are affiliated with such an organization and would like to sign the letter, please click on this Google form link here to add your name, title, and organization:
I humbly apologize for the short notice, but the holiday and vacations have complicated the process. If you have already signed it, thank you, and I apologize for the duplication. You do not have to sign it again. We hope to get this letter to Congressman Brat by the close of business TODAY, Monday, July 10.
Thank you very much for your help on this and for protecting the hearts and minds of children!
Karen R. Effrem, President
