The Senate confirmed President Trump’s nominee for education secretary, Betsy DeVos.

Betsy DeVosDr. Karen Effrem, Eagle Forum’s Education Issues Chair, said in response, “We will need to work towards getting her to approve all state plans even if they want to get rid of Common Core and decrease testing and don’t comply with all of the eleven different federal laws, which will be a first step towards carrying out Trump’s pledges to downsize the USED.”

She continued, “We must also frequently remind Secretary DeVos to protect student privacy by not giving in to all of the technology, which was another of President Trump’s promises. In addition, we should speak out about the evidence of ineffectiveness and harm regarding plans to expand social-emotional learning and pre-K.”

Eunie Smith warned, “Reagan suffered from bad education appointments; Trump could too,” as outlined in the following article.
