BOGOTA – Republican U.S. Senate candidate Steve Lonegan was endorsed for the U.S. Senate today by Phyllis Schlafly and Eagle Forum PAC.
“Senator Steve Lonegan will be a consistent conservative vote to defend our Constitutional Freedoms against big government,” said Schlafly.
“Having served as a Mayor for twelve years, Steve Lonegan knows Washington’s one-size fits all approach to educational and environmental policy has failed. Steve’s been a consistent opponent of the Common Core Educational Standards, Cap and Trade, forced Centralized Planning and other radical mandates from Washington D.C. that dumb-down education, raise energy prices and destroy our neighborhoods,” Schlafly noted.
“Steve Lonegan is well read on economic issues and understands dangerous legislation like Dodd-Frank and ObamaCare and what needs to be done to undo these bills and stop similar laws in the future,” she added.
Mrs. Schlafly, who founded Eagle Forum in 1972, noted that Mayor Lonegan has been consistent in his support for the Right-to-Life, the Second Amendment, smaller government, lower taxes and opposition to amnesty for illegal aliens, yet won three times in a town that gave Barack Obama 65 percent of the vote.
“Steve Lonegan wins the votes of Independents and conservative and moderate Democrats without bending on his beliefs,” Schlafly added. “He’s proof that straight talk, not watered-down messages, are what Republicans need to win back elections, and Steve Lonegan is going to prove that when he beats the Democrat Obama Rubber Stamp in the Wednesday, October 16th special election”, she added.
