Alton, IL – Eunie Smith, President of Eagle Forum, is delighted to announce that Dr. Pat Daugherty of Bishop, Georgia has been unanimously approved by the Board of Directors to be the new president of Georgia Eagle Forum. “Pat comes highly recommended to us. She is a wonderful addition to our state leadership roster. Her years of experience will serve Eagle Forum of Georgia and its citizens well. We are privileged to have her take the helm of Georgia Eagle Forum,” Mrs. Smith said.
Pat has lived in Georgia for more than 20 years, and she worked in College Student Affairs for 36 years before recently retiring from the University of Georgia. She has a bachelor’s degree from Clemson University, a Master’s degree from Ohio State University, and a doctorate from the University of Alabama. In addition to her years of working with college students, she was a consultant in leadership and management training, organizational development, interpersonal communication, and public speaking.
Pat is Past President and current Program Chairman for Conservative Republican Women of Northeast Georgia. She is the Georgia liaison with FreedomWorks in Washington, DC and serves on its Activist Advisory Council. Pat has been a delegate for several years to the Georgia Republican Party state convention, a member of the convention planning committee, and the director of convention volunteers. In addition, she is a member of the Georgia Republican Assembly and served as a delegate to its recent state convention. In 2016 she was a candidate for the Georgia State Senate. Active in pro-family issues since 2009, Pat has specifically worked in the areas of education, privacy rights against intrusive governmental data collection, and religious liberty.
Founded by Phyllis Schlafly in 1972, Eagle Forum continues its mission to enable conservative and pro-family men and women to participate in the process of self-government and public policy making so that America will continue to be a land of individual liberty, respect for family integrity, public and private virtue, and private enterprise.
To accomplish this mission on the state level, Pat is continuing to build the Eagle Forum presence throughout Georgia. “I don’t think people today realize how knowledgeable and even prophetic Phyllis Schlafly was as far back as the 1950s and 60s when she recognized the ever-increasing attacks on traditional conservative values,” said Daugherty. “She was an intellectual and a grassroots warrior, and her work laid the foundation particularly for women’s increased activism in important political issues. As I saw at the annual conference known as Eagle Council XLVI in D.C. in September, there are many outstanding women and men who are still following in Phyllis’ footsteps, and I look forward to getting more Georgians involved in this important work.”
