Colleen on Capitol Hill — 1/13/17

January 13, 2017

This week the Senate began holding hearings on Trump Cabinet nominees.

Attorney General

The hearings on Senator Sessions’ nominees received the most attention.  Senator Sessions responded to 11 hours of questioning beautifully.  He showcased his imminent qualifications for the position of Attorney General, as well as his gracious character and his respect for the rule of law and for all people.

William Smith, a long-term Sessions staffer and a great friend to Eagle Forum also made us proud as he boldly defended Sessions’ character through media appearances and Committee testimony.  Smith’s testimony was compelling because he spoke from his personal experience from his years-long friendship with the Senator.

Please watch these clips from Smith’s testimony and an excellent interview with Fox News.  I promise they will encourage you!

Eagle Forum is sending a letter to the Hill urging Senators to not only vote for Senator Sessions, but to speak out against the liberal attacks against him. Those attacks truly fell flat this week, as we are told Senator Sessions is likely to be confirmed on a bipartisan basis.  Sen. Joe Manchin of West Virginia, announced in November that he would back Sessions in November. Others who may follow him include Democratic Sens. Heidi Heitkamp of North Dakota, Jon Tester of Montana, and Joe Donnelly of Indiana.

If you live in any of the states listed above, please contact these Senators to encourage and thank them for acting in a bipartisan manner.  If you live in a state represented by liberals, please call them and urge them to set aside partisan bickering and confirm this well-qualified nominee.
