Oklahoma Alert: SQ 788 Legalizing Marijuana on Ballot June 26th

June 7, 2018
Is Marijuana really Medicine?

The Federal Food and Drug Administration confirms that whole plant marijuana and THC oils are NOT medicine.

  • To protect the public, the FDA testing and approval process determines drug safety, dosing efficacy, side effects, potency, duration, interactions, etc.
  • Pot shop “baristas” who recommend this psychoactive drug are highly likely to make medical conditions worse (e.g. PTSD, pediatric seizures, glaucoma and even pain).

Are you wondering ABOUT STATE QUESTION 788?  It’s on the Ballot, June 26th.

  • If passed, marijuana will become legal to use, sell, distribute, possess and grow in Oklahoma. Oh! But it’s only for medical reasons, you say. We learn from other states that the legalization of POT for medical reasons was the beginning of total legalization for any and all use. Some predict SQ 788 will make Oklahoma more liberal than California or Colorado—because of the way it is written.
  • NO Prescriptions will be written for marijuana because it is not approved for medical use — only a license will be issued to any person over the age of 18 who “articulates a medical need” to a doctor. That’s all that’s necessary to qualify for a license to use and possess and grow marijuana.
  • An Oklahoma board-certified D.D.O., veterinarian, dentist, optometrist, podiatrist or chiropractor will be able to “recommend” the license. Doctors must use the same standards for recommending a license, as they would use for recommending all other medications — such as Tylenol, Penicillin, etc.
  • THEN — The Health Department will be in charge of issuing the coveted 2-year license. They’ll also license the sellers, growers, packagers, transporters, distributors, researchers and caregivers who only need to meet certain minimal requirements to start their business.
  • Local government will not be allowed to use zoning laws to prevent the opening of a retail marijuana store. It could be your neighbor.

VOTE NO on STATE QUESTION 788 ON TUESDAY, JUNE 26th.

ONLY YOUR VOTE CAN STOP THE LEGALIZATION
