TED KENNEDY TRIES TO SLIP HATE CRIMES PAST THE PUBLIC
Urge your Senators to Vote NO on the Hate Crimes Amendment!
After his immigration bill received three+ weeks of fiery opposition from the grassroots, Ted Kennedy has decided to try to slip this next piece of ultra-controversial legislation past the American people’s radar screen. Last week, the Senate bypassed the normal committee process as Ted Kennedy filed the Hate Crimes bill as an amendment to H.R. 1585, the 2008 Defense Authorization bill. Back on May 3rd, President Bush released a statement saying that if such hate crimes legislation were to reach his desk, his senior advisors would recommend that he veto it. Kennedy, no doubt, understands that neither the House nor the Senate could override a veto; thus, he is attempting to insert this language into the DOD Authorization because it will be harder for President Bush to veto the entire bill.
