Phyllis Schlafly's Compelling, Pro-Family Voice Inspires Radio Audiences for 25 Years

ST. LOUIS, Sept. 29 /Christian Newswire/ -- One week before Senator John McCain announced Alaska Governor Sarah Palin as his vice presidential running mate, pro-family leader Phyllis Schlafly was working behind the scenes with GOP leaders in St. Paul, MN to insure the pro-life plank remained in the Republican platform. As President of Eagle Forum and Chairman of the Republican National Coalition for Life, Schlafly is an influential voice on issues and policies shaping the political, spiritual and moral landscape of America. In October, The Phyllis Schlafly Report, her daily radio broadcast, will celebrate 25 years on the air.

Feminists against Palin - shame on you

The nomination of Sarah Palin for vice president is a big step forward for women, but a long backward step for the movement we have been taught to call feminism.

That is obvious from the anguish, indeed the fury, of feminist commentators. They are so intemperate in their criticism that they are incoherent. Men who are clueless about feminism naively think all women should be cheering. Sarah Palin is a woman who has done it all; she has a successful and even more promising career, five children and a supportive husband.

Today, in a press conference held at the National Press Club in Washington, D.C., Feminist Majority president Eleanor Smeal and National Organization of Women (NOW) president Kim Gandy announced their endorsement of Senator Barack Obama (D-IL). They also took the opportunity to praise Obama for his commitment to closing the gender pay gap and for his co-sponsorship of both pay equity bills.

Analysis: Sarah Palin's first TV interview

"She was clear and careful not to promise too much when he was trying to nail her down," said Coleen Holmes, executive director of the Eagle Forum. "But I had no worries beforehand."

Don't underestimate Palin's appeal to women

SAN DIEGO, California (CNN) -- The nomination of Sarah Palin has turned our assumptions about women and politics on their head. Many Democrats have presumed that her policy positions run contrary to those held by women, and that women will not vote for her.

To that end, feminist icon Gloria Steinem argued in the Los Angeles Times: "Republicans may learn they can't appeal to right-wing patriarchs and most women at the same time."

But that is not true. After all, 48 percent of women voted for President Bush in 2004. Also, the latest CNN/Opinion Research Corporation poll shows that 53 percent of women have a favorable opinion of Palin.

Conservatives hyped over Palin

ST. PAUL, Minn. (AP) — Sarah Palin has done in five days what John McCain has never been able to do — fire up the Republican Party's conservative base.

The No. 2 on the GOP ticket clearly impressed the party faithful Wednesday as she smoothly moved from lavishing praise on McCain — "a true profile in courage" who has "determination, resolve, and sheer guts" — to throwing punches at Democratic rival Barack Obama.
