U.S. exporting jobs and importing disease, drugs and poverty, 11-29-07

One Reporter’s Opinion -- Illegals Pose Health Risks

...Little did Emma Lazarus know how foolishly that golden door has been flung open and how often. Millions of illegal aliens have crossed America’s borders and we have learned the tragic consequences.

Among those who have come are the diseased. Our late-great friend, Dr. Madeleine Cosman, with degrees in both law and medicine, warned of the illegals crossing into America unexamined. We pretty much know what they carry in their backpacks. However, we do not know what they carry in their bodies.

Community College In-State Tuition Decree for NC Illegal Aliens opposed by ALIPA, 11-28-07

The Raleigh based national organization ALIPAC, which was credited with helping to defeat in-state tuition for illegals in NC (2005), is taking aim at the administration of Governor Mike Easley (D-NC) for the recent decree that illegal aliens will now be allowed in all community colleges. The Easley administration is known nationally for giving hundreds of thousands of licenses to illegal aliens, an issue that NY Governor Spitzer was pummeled for even considering.

NC Community College Attorney, David Sullivan who issued the order, falsely claims that this move will not cost NC taxpayers because the illegal aliens will be charged out of state tuition. Unknown to most North Carolinians, provisions were secretly placed into law years ago that qualifies illegal aliens for in-state tuition for community colleges in NC.

SPP 'dead,' says insider, 11-28-07

'Bush, Harper, Calderon have punted to line bureaucrats'

An insider who presented a paper at a recent North American Forum meeting in Mexico is concluding that the Security and Prosperity Partnership plan has failed.

"The Security and Prosperity Partnership is dead," reporter John Ibbitson of Canada's Globe and Mail told WND in a telephone interview.

Ibbitson, who was invited to present a paper at the meeting because he is a strong proponent of increased international trade, especially between Canada and the United States, said he believes public exposure has stalled SPP efforts.

Americans Pay for Emerging World Government, 11-28-07

In its new Human Development Report calling for another $86 billion in aid to the rest of the world, supposedly to fight the effects of climate change, the United Nations acts distressed that people in “rich” countries like the U.S. don’t take the theory of man-made global warming more seriously. Its answer—and this is actually spelled out in the report—is that too much “editorial balance” in the media has prevented “informed debate” about the need for “urgent action” in the form of higher taxes on energy. Feminist Abuse of Domestic Violence Laws, 11-28-07

The radical feminists have devised a scheme to cash in on a flow of taxpayers' money in a big way. Their good buddy Senator Joseph Biden (D-DE) has just introduced a bill called I-VAWA (International Violence Against Women Act, S. 2279).

Christian leaders join effort to free border agents

A group of conservative leaders and evangelical Christian leaders have joined the movement to free El Paso Border Patrol agents Ignacio Ramos and Jose Alonso Compean, sending a letter to President Bush to appeal to his "Christian values."

"We sincerely feel that your inaction and lack of immediacy to personally address the inhumane treatment of these two agents runs counter to the tenets of a compassionate conservative and the Christian values that many of your supporters find a sustaining beacon of your presidency," the Nov. 19 letter read.

Bad New Plans to Rewrite the Constitution, 11-21-07

Let's face it. Some people, especially liberals, just don't like our United States Constitution. Every few years, they come up with wild or devious plans to make major changes.

The would-be rewriters of the Constitution do not merely propose amendments to remedy a problem, as allowed for in Article V. They seek structural change after hurling put-downs such as archaic, out-of-date, and dating from the horse-and-buggy era.

Bush support for sea treaty affirmed, 11-16-07

'I understand there are concerns. We believe those have been addressed'

The president continues to support the pending Law of the Sea Treaty, but a spokeswoman isn't going to speculate on how it would have affected critical U.S. operations on the sea had it been adopted earlier.

The issue was resurrected recently in the U.S. Senate at President Bush's urging even though critics making up a wide-ranging chorus have concluded it would grant the United Nations control of 70 percent of the planet under its oceans, and undermine U.S. sovereignty.

Don't answer Census, don't face going to jail, 11-14-07

Government demands answers, but official confirms penalties not applied

Another month is coming, and another 250,000 forms are being mailed out in the U.S. Census Bureau's perpetual American Community Survey, which demands responses to personal questions about a family's lifestyle, housing accommodations, work schedules, physical and mental disabilities, income and the like.

That means roughly 250,000 times recipients will see the warning that participation is required by law, and there are penalties including fines for not answering each question. But, in fact, U.S. Census Bureau officials say they've never had anyone prosecuted for refusing to provide those intimate details to the government.

Defeat the Law of the Sea Treaty, 11-13-07

The Bush administration, together with several unlikely allies — including Sens. Joe Biden of Delaware and Dick Lugar of Indiana, and the majority of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee — are attempting to impose a flawed international agreement on America. The U.N. Law of the Sea Treaty, known by its particularly apt acronym LOST, was wisely rejected 25 years ago by President Reagan and revived by the Clinton administration after several cosmetic changes. The "new" treaty was approved Oct. 31 by a 17-4 Senate Foreign Relations Committee vote. What was wrong with LOST 25 years ago is what's wrong with it now — it would undermine American sovereignty and risk national security by putting American efforts to counteract nuclear-weapons proliferation and international terrorism under the control of foreign judges.

Miracle in New Jersey: Voters Defeat Stem Cell Initiative 53-47%

Stunned, the New York Times reports that "recent polls had indicated that the initiative would pass easily" and that this "marked the first time in 17 years that voters in New Jersey had defeated any statewide ballot question" (11-7-07).
The ballot initiative would have forced taxpayers to spend $450 million on cloning and embryonic stem cell research.

Marie Tasy, the head of New Jersey Right to Life, told LifeNews.com the result is a major defeat for New Jersey Governor Jon Corzine, who personally contributed $200,000 to the campaign to pass the initiative.

Let's Protect American Jobs

"Sticks and stones may break my bones, but words will never hurt me" is an old verse that just isn't true. Indeed, words can hurt, break up marriages, destroy careers, and defeat political candidates.

Even words out of one's own mouth can be destructive. We recall such bloopers as presidential candidate George Romney self-destructing his 1968 presidential candidacy with the word "brainwashing," or Gerald Ford losing in 1976 after saying "there is no Soviet domination of Eastern Europe," or Richard Nixon pleading "I am not a crook."

A Sinkable Treaty

Why America doesn't need the Law of the Sea.

The Senate Foreign Relations Committee voted 17-4 Wednesday to approve the Law of the Sea Treaty, meaning it's now up to 34 Senate Republicans to send this giant octopus of a document back where it belongs. To wit, the bottom of the ocean.

The U.S. last disposed of the United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea--LOST to its critics--when Ronald Reagan was President. This May, however, the Bush Administration reversed course and declared that the Gipper's objections had been fixed by a 1994 amendment. We've since had a debate on these pages over that point, with former Secretaries of State George Shultz and James Baker in favor, while Ed Meese and William Clark, Reagan's Attorney General and National Security Adviser, remain opposed.

Doctors have yet to evaluate X-rays for 165 current workers who tested positive to determine if any more are contagious.

In 1799, in a communication to Elbridge Gerry, Thomas Jefferson said the following: “I am for free commerce with all nations, political connection with none, and little or no diplomatic establishment.” This statement by Jefferson has a profound bearing on the title of this article.

As this develops, I believe you will see the serious significance involved and how it relates to the further reduction and diminishing of the sovereignty of the United States of America.
