What Colleges Teach -- and Don't Teach

Let's Get Rid Of Foreigners' $327 Billion Trading Advantage

Daniel Drew, the legendary 19th century Wall Street insider, reputedly said that all he wanted in any deal was "a little unfair advantage." Most of America's trade competitors seem to want the same thing, or even a big unfair advantage. Phyllis Schlafly column, 4/25/07

'No Amnesty' Is Cry at D.C. Immigration Protest

The small but fervent crowd of protesters recited the Pledge of Allegiance and hummed along to "God Bless America." They hoisted neatly lettered placards that portrayed the United States as under siege. They cheered lustily as a parade of speakers, jabbing fingers toward the White House, demanded action to secure U.S. borders, enforce its laws and make English its official language. Rally To Focus on Immigration Debate

On many issues, it seems like our elected representatives simply don’t listen. They head to Washington and think about Washington — not the men and women they represent back home. This situation is certainly true with the illegal immigration debate. Now, conservative talk radio is jumping into the mix with a planned rally that will show what the American people want regarding border security and illegal immigration.

Why are the Democrats betting on the Loser?

As Democrat-led Congress passed a bill to fund embryonic stem cell research, another miraculous adult stem cell advancement was announced. Brazilian, not U.S., researchers have treated 15 young diabetics with adult stem cells from the patients’ own bodies. 13 of the 15 Type 1 diabetics have gone without medication and have no signs of diabetes. “It’s the first time in the history of Type 1 diabetes where people have gone with no treatment whatsoever ... no medications at all, with normal blood sugars,” said study co-author Dr. Richard Burt, Northwestern University Medical School. The study was completed in Brazil because U.S. researchers were, according to Burt, not interested in the study. AP, 4-10-07.

Last week, British scientists announced that adult stem cells taken from bone marrow can be used to grow a human heart valve. Although the headlines read, “stem cells,” this wonderful medical advancement relies specifically on adult—not embryonic—stem cells. Scientists hope to cultivate and use adult stem cells to create a human heart in the next ten years. News.bbc.co.uk, 4-3-07.

Mexico: Big Abortion's safety net

When the U.S. government began dropping the hammer on American tobacco companies, these corporations became alarmed that their prospects for long-term survival might be no better than it is for the people who buy their products. Their response was to redirect their marketing efforts toward foreign countries where the governments don't regulate the sale and use of these little white cancer sticks. The plan worked, and today, an enormous percentage of the profits made by "Big Tobacco" are generated by cigarette sales in foreign countries. WorldNetDaily.com, April 11, 2007

2/3 of immigrants cost Americans $22,449 a year, shows new study

Victory in Alaska on Same-sex Benefits Advisory

A statewide advisory, to ban health benefits for the live-in partners of homosexual public employees, passed with 53% of the vote. In some areas, where the advisory was the only ballot issue, it passed 3-1. In 1998, 68% of Alaskans voted for a state amendment to ban same-sex marriage, but in 2005, the state Supreme Court ruled in favor of providing state funded health benefits to the non-employed homosexual partners of state employees.

The advisory vote was a precursor to a statewide vote on a constitutional amendment to ban health benefits for homosexual partners. ktuu.com, 4-4-07.

ERA Enforced by the United Nations?

Having failed in their effort to persuade Americans to put the Equal Rights Amendment (ERA) into the U.S. Constitution, despite spending tens of millions of dollars and enjoying the support of Big Media, three Presidents, and dozens of prominent politicians of both parties, the feminists are now trying to give us an even more dangerous ERA through ratification of a UN Treaty on Women enforced by busybody bureaucrats from foreign countries. This treaty has the pretentious label of United Nations Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Discrimination Against Women (CEDAW). Signed by Jimmy Carter in 1980, and repeatedly promoted by Bill and Hillary Clinton, the U.S. Senate has wisely never ratified it. March Phyllis Schlafly Report

Might ERA Rise Again to Fail Again?

By Paul M. Weyrich

They are back, just when you thought it was safe. I mean the Feminazi crowd. And guess what they have in store for you? Why, they intend to re-introduce the Equal Rights Amendment in both Houses of Congress. The original fight should have been over in 1977 but then Congress gave the ladies (please forgive that term in this context) another several years to complete ratification. So you thought the fight was over by 1982? No, not at all. This time the authors of the ERA assure us that they will have no time limit for ratification. And there you have it: ERA forever.
