Mexican official says NAFTA includes superhighways, 3-18-08

'Transportation linking the United States, Mexico and Canada is key to the future'

While President Bush and other U.S. officials have derided fears of a NAFTA superhighway as merely conspiracy theory, a Mexican transportation expert contends the trade agreement includes plans for a network of international ship, rail and truck connections to deliver consumer goods from China and the Far East to Mexico, the U.S. and Canada.

  • Why would we need a NAFTA super-highway if we could bring back manufacturing to our soveregn country? Why do we need NAFTA? What good is cheaper goods if no one has jobs? Cheap labor trickles up. "Conspiracy" is no longer a theory if it has proven to be bankrupting our country. Who can deny it? Why are we so blind and letting this happen!

  • "Super highway" Aren't Canada, China and Mexico your biggest trading partners ? GAT and NAFTA opened doors of commerce to the US in Mexico it didn't have before. Trade between the US and Mexico in February 2008 = 30 Billion Dollars, sounds to me like alot of money and then there's Canada and China, 50 and 30 Billion respectively...maybe you should be asking what would you do without these trade partners..."Cheap labour"...because Americans don't want to do the "dirty Jobs" like picking up garbage... Actually NAFTA has slowed down the moving of US companies to Mexico, why, because they don't have to anymore, they can manufacture the products in the US with US workers and export the products to Mexico and sell them at competitive prices. NAFTA isn't good for everyone, but then what is? The truth is that it isn't going away and whining about it isn't going to help, if you want to stop illegal imigrants from taking your cheap labour jobs, then get out there and do them yourselves ! and stop buying products manufactured outside of the US...Good Luck!
