The NEA Lists Its Goals And Democrats Agree
Some critics have complained that the issue of education has been conspicuously absent from presidential television debates. But the Democratic candidates did sound off with their pro-federal-government, pro-spending policies when addressing the annual convention of the National Education Association, and the nation's largest teachers union liked what they heard.
Senator Hillary Clinton told the NEA delegates that she will fight school vouchers "with every breath in my body." Reiterating the message of her book "It Takes a Village," she called for universal preschool for four-year-olds. Phyllis Schlafly column, 8-22-07

Hello!
I just found your website and I love it! I did not know such a thing existed, but I plan on getting involved with your organization. Anyway, I am writing because I am a public school teacher who was not informed about all of the groups/ideas that the NEA supports. In my district we are forced to join the NEA, our state union and our district union. I complained to my union rep and said I would rather put my money toward becoming a stay-at-home mom, to which she replied "even if you choose to opt-out of the union, you still have to pay the dues, because we work for all our teachers. You just wouldn't have union voting rights" This added to my fuel against public schools and I am leaving as soon as possible.
