Missouri State University's Social Work Program Fails External Review
MSU student Emily Brooker filed a suit against the school for violating her First Amendment rights after she objected to signing her name to a letter to the state legislature supporting homosexual adoption. MSU agree to settle with Brooker and to both clear her academic record and reimbursement for her attorney fees. After the settlement, MSU’s social science department was reviewed by deans from two other universities. MSU’s President Mike Nietzel said that the review was “as negative a review of an academic program as I have ever seen.” Belleville.com, 4-6-07.
